1. Why we show ads
Gelbe Pfoten is an editorially vetted directory for pet services in Canton Zurich. Core features — search, contact details, ratings, guides — are free for pet owners and will remain so.
To keep the directory maintained, verified and growing, we display ads in selected positions. Ad revenue funds editorial research, technical upkeep and expansion into new categories.
2. Which network serves the ads
We work with Google AdSense, operated by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Publisher ID: pub-4375066166610193 (see /ads.txt).
Google AdSense selects ads automatically. We do not directly control which specific ad a visitor sees. Certain categories (gambling, adult content, sensitive topics) are blocked on this property.
3. Which cookies AdSense sets
Google AdSense may store the following cookies on your device once you click "Accept all" in the cookie banner:
• __gads / __gpi — Store anonymised ad preferences and cap ad frequency.
• _gcl_* — Set by Google services for conversion measurement.
• IDE / DSID / NID (Google domains) — Personalise ads based on your interests.
If you choose "Necessary only" or "Reject all", these cookies are not set. Ads become non-personalised (Google Consent Mode v2, ad_storage=denied signal).
4. Your control over ads
You can withdraw or adjust your consent at any time:
• Re-open the cookie banner — Visit any page and clear the localStorage entry "gelbe_pfoten_cookie_consent" in your browser settings.
• Disable personalised ads globally — At https://adssettings.google.com you can turn off personalised ads across all Google services.
• Block entirely — Use an ad blocker (e.g. uBlock Origin) to hide all ads. Gelbe Pfoten works fully without ads.
5. What we do NOT do
A few important commitments:
• We do not sell user emails, search queries or ratings to advertisers.
• We never mix ads with editorial recommendations. Ads are always labelled "Anzeige"/"Ad" or carry the AdChoices icon.
• A paid Premium listing does not change search visibility. Ranking and rating algorithms are identical for every provider.
• We do not run cross-site retargeting based on our user data.
